DPS Panipat City hosted an International Girls’ Swimming Meet

New Delhi, 01st August 2016: DPS Panipat City, in an attempt to carry forward the‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign, started by the Prime Minister Narender Modi, hosted an International Girls’ Swimming Meet from 29th to 31st July 2016 in the school premises. This upbeat event was to re-establish that girls are an integral part of the society.

The school opened its gates for more than 30 schools from across India and abroad including DPS Sharjah to send their girl students for the event. For the first time an event for a noble cause was witnessed at such an inimitable scale. Girls brimmed with confidence were spotted with flushed cheeks and excitement gleaming in their eyes. DPS gave them the reason to feel proud.

The captivating three day swimming Meet at DPS Panipat City culminated on 31st July 2016. Mr. Mohit Aggarwal, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, District Legal Services Authority, Panipat was the Chief Guest. Special Guests on the occasion were Mr. Amit Sharma, Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Panipat, and members of Inner Wheel Club Ms. Seema Babbar, Ms. Shelly Katiyal and Ms. Nonika Nanda. Mr. M.S. Rana, Patron of DPS Panipat and Ms. Archna Jain, the Principal, added charm to the ceremony and felicitated all the dignitaries.

The Closing ceremony started with Lamp Lighting and a welcome song sung with panache by the school choir. A gripping western dance in the pool drew loud applause by one and all. The attires in radiant shades looked like rainbows when reflected through the splashes that rose with every move. Nukkad Natak on ‘Health is Wealth’ exhibited the importance of sports for rejuvenating the body to stay healthy. The students were awesome and effectively delivered the message in the most artistic way. Deep imagination and finesse was on display in these enactments.

Soon the most awaited moment came. The Chief Guest, Mr. Mohit Aggarwal gave away the medals and certificates for the fastest and the speediest. DPS Noida took the honours followed by DPS Bengaluru and the third spot went to DPS Greater Noida. Roar of loud applause rose from the winning teams. Alia Singh from DPS Greater Noida was indeed head and shoulders above the rest and declared the best swimmer.

The Chief Guest in his address to the students said that such events are a necessity to break the monotony and give requisite exposure. He congratulated the winners and the participants both, as Sports events showcase the collective talent of all. The thrill of life is in holding up both.
Strive to be all-rounders.He said that a candle lights many candles and he is engaged in uplifting the villagers by educating them on legal aspects and providing them justice.

The Patron Mr. M.S. Rana thanked the competitors and their coaches for a wonderful and coordinated display and promised to hold many more such events in future. The Pro Vice Chairman, Mr. Amit Rana, and the Principal, Ms. Archana Jain, congratulated the students for their spectacular performance. They also wished them success for future events. Due thanks were also given to men behind the scene who toiled hard to make this event a grand success. It ended with Vote of Thanks by the Principal.

A pinch of inspiration and a firm determination. And voila! The taste of success and congratulations! Well done, winners! Your achievement is indeed our pride!
