Govt to establish Skill Universities

Government will bring in legislation in Parliament to establish Skill Universities in every state, as a part of its efforts to createa large pool of skilled workforce in the country, said Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

Prime Minister had directed that to achieve this objective (skill development) we will have to set up Skill Universities and work with states to achieve the goal.

We are confident that in the coming days we will bringin a legislation in Parliament to make an attempt to establish a Skill University in every state, Rudy said at a mega event to mark the first-ever World Youth Skills Day here.

Rudy, who is the Minister of State (Independent Charge)Skills Development & Entrepreneurship, said the Government has decided to train around 60,000 defence personnel in the last year of their service to impart skills training or become entrepreneurs.

He outlined the steps the Ministry of Skill Developmentand Entrepreneurship is taking to turn the Prime Minister's vision of a skilled India into reality.

Rudy also underlined the importance of strategic partnerships in achieving the Skill India vision, showcasing inter-Ministerial initiatives to scale up skill development efforts.
