Expressing concern over the prevailing poor literacy rate in Telangana State, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Friday asserted that the State government wants to offer English medium education to every poor child under KG to PG scheme in the State.

Addressing the media at TRS office here, Srihari, who also holds Education portfolio, stated that development of any State would be possible only by providing education to all. It was estimated to spend about Rs 20 crore for every Gurukul institution, he said.

The State government would spend about Rs 5,000 crore for launching 250 Gurukul institutions across the State."Since Telangana is lagging behind in literacy and education sector, efforts are on to address the problem through Gurukul type of education,"he maintained.

Srihari extended thanks to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for announcing to launch the scheme and 250 Gurukul institutions to give boost to education sector. These institutions will help SC, ST and Minority categories. As many as 10,000 posts are needed to be filled including 6,000 teaching and 4,000 non-teaching staff for these institutions to offer qualitative education, Srihari averred.
