Macmillan launches ELT in India

Macmillan is one of the world's largest English Language Training [ELT] companies has launched its portfolio of ELT products in India. In this foray, Macmillan Education India, a leading publisher of curriculum materials is aiming to focus on Language Learning resources to service the English-learner market across India.

Pioneers in the education sector with over 170 years of experience and presence in 50 countries across the world, Macmillan Education will now offer its global repository of digital and print Language Learning resources to Indian students.

The company aims to target over 10 lakh students over the next 3 to 5 years, tapping the language learning space in support of its strategy to double its India revenues. Speaking about the venture, Jeremy Dieguez, Managing Director, Global Education Group at Macmillan Education said, 

Language learning tools is the flexibility in the digital products being launched - Macmillan Practice Online and Macmillan English Campus (MEC). MEC is an intuitive language learning platform with graded online material for ELT. 

Currently there are 100000 students enrolled on MEC and 150 ELT institutions accessing 60 courses. MEC allows institutions to integrate ELT into their syllabus as per their level and students to approach learning at their own pace. MPO offers individual students the opportunity to cherry pick ELT courses in General English, Business English and Exams and learn anytime anywhere.

Speaking about the initiative, Emma Bourne, Managing Director, Schools at Macmillan Education said, "For India's demographics to pay dividends - employability is the key. An essential skill for employability is English communication and it is every job seeker's dream to have good communication skills. With the launch of our Language Learning resources in Indian markets, we want to continue fulfilling our vision of making language training accessible and affordable and bring it on par with international quality standards."

Yash Mehta, Director, Macmillan Education India added, "To cater to the under served English language need of students studying in government schools, Macmillan has launched its localized Language learning tool called Let's Converse. This tool aims to develop fluency and comprehension skills through active involvement in the classroom and uses expository methodology to teach, reinforce and practice language. Consisting of 30 modules and grammar games, Let's Converse is a teachers' delight and has already been adopted by four state governments to improve language skills in government schools.
