To Develop Capital a Skill Education Hub, Govt Talks with other Nations

To develop the capital into a hub for skill and technology education, the Delhi government has initiated talks with the education ministries of Finland, Brazil, the United Kingdom and Germany. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is currently attending the WorldSkills International Competition 2015 at Sao Paulo, Brazil, communicated his thoughts on making ‘skill education in Delhi dignified and futuristic forstudents’.

 

A statement issued by Sisodia’s office said discussions to host the 2021 World Skills competition in Delhi areon.

 

The dialogueis aimed at adopting the best practices and systems from across the world in order to set up the Delhi Skills University later this year. Pioneers of skill education from across the world, including Finland, Brazil and the UK, are being roped in to partner with the Delhi government in transforming the overall education system in the capital, reads the statement.

 

Besides emphasizing the importance of vocational education to students and companies, sources said the competition also presents an opportunity for industrial and government leaders and experts to exchange information on the best practices invocational education.

Giving importance to academic subjects alone won't derive much results, skill and vocational education should be given equal importance for betterment.
