Google to Promote Digital Literacy in Haryana

Tech giant Google has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Haryana state government to promote digital literacy in the state. Google would undertake a digital literacy drive covering internet safety in government schools throughout the state and also conduct similar exercise for government officials.

 

The MOU was signed in Silicon Valley in the presence of visiting Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Hailing it as a major sign of development in the country, he said, It will not only give a decisive push to our drive to digitize Haryana but also help pace up work. The pact takes us closer to realizing our objective of spreading digital literacy and awareness among people of the state.

 

Chetan Krishnaswamy, country head policy, Google India, too, emphasized on optimizing the web assets for mobile platforms, through the drive. The government has also signed a pact with Applied Materials Inc, global leader in providing material engineering solutions, at Santa Clara in California.

 

The Haryana government signed another MoU with Applied Materials to shore up solar skill training and expand the use of solar energy in the state. It provides solar PV training program to 1,000 aspirants, and is also managing the energy park for HAREDA in Sector 29 of Gurgaon. The conference, held on August 23 also witnessed the announcement of establishing world-class infrastructure in Haryana.

 

Earlier, there were only four national highways in the state. Now, nine additional national highways have already been approved. Besides, we shall have a special purpose vehicle for all clearances related to the Railways, Khattar said.

 

To achieve these objectives, Khattar said the state government recently announced its Entrepreneur Promotion Policy 2015 with key features like ease-of-doing business and single-window system to ensure speedy clearances.
