U.S. launches website, 'Passport to India' at India-U.S. Higher Education Dialogue

New Delhi: The U.S. Department of State launched a new website, Passport to India, (www.passporttoindia.com) at the 3rd India-U.S. Higher Education Dialogue held in New Delhi yesterday. This website will serve as a platform for American students who are keen to study and intern in India.

The meet was chaired by Mr. Satya N. Mohanty, Secretary, Higher Education, Ministry for Human Resource Development, India and Mr. Richard Stengel, U.S.Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs.

The U.S. has offered technical support in helping to establish one of the new Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) that are in the offing. Both the countries also plan to work together on India’s Global Initiative of Academics Network (GIAN) that will encourage of U.S. faculty to visit Indian colleges/ universities for short-term teaching and research programs.

Talks were also held on tie up between India and the U.S. for development of massive open online courses (MOOC), community colleges, student and faculty exchange and skill development.
