Alka Tomar is an Indian wrestler. The national National Women Wrestling champion of India, she received the bronze medal in Wrestling (55 kg Freestyle) at the Doha Asian Games in 2006. Alka Tomar also received a bronze at the Senior Wrestling Championships in Guangzhou in China 2006. He was born on December 1, 1983 in Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh. She studied in Chaudhary Charan Singh University pursuing her Masters degree in physical education. She is also a recipient of the 2007 Arjuna Award given for outstanding achievements in sports. Alka Tomar also received a bronze at the Senior Wrestling Championships in Guangzhou in China 2006. She also won a Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi where she competed against Tonya Verbeek of Canada. 

Alka Tomar the first woman wrestler from India practiced with great dedication and won a medal in Senior World Wrestling Championships at Guangzhou in China in 2006. She also won a bronze in the event and another bronze in the Doha Asian Games the same year.  Incidentally, she is the only gold medal winner from the Western Uttar Pradesh region. She has also been a gold medalist in the Commonwealth Wrestling Championships twice in 2005 and in 2009. It is worth mentioning here that she has been winning gold medals at the wrestling national competitions right from 2000 continuously and gold medals also at the National Games.
