About Institution

Government arts college, Maninagar, Ahmedabad has been established by government of Gujarat in june 2007. Maninagar’s eastern area is quite poor and full with slums. Gujarat’s visionary chief minister shree Narendra Modi has decided to uplift education standard of this area. So, he laid down stone ceremony with education minister Smt. Anandiben Patel in the year of 2006 and dedicated upcoming educational complex to the well known scholar of Gujarat padmashre K. K. Shastri. On 19th june, 2008, chief minister shree Narendra Modi, so many ministers of the state, vice chancelors of the different universities and scholars from various fields inaugrated padmashree K. K. Shastri educational complex with pomp and glory. New building has all the ultra modern facilities. Along with arts college, other six colleges have been started in same grand educational complex. government arts college has offered six under graduate subjects. First time in the history of India, new subject like indology has been started to study indian heritage differently. Foreign language centre has been established and languages like french and japanese taught. Diploma and certificate courses run by Shree Somnath Sankrit university have been started like temple management and astrolgy. A new type of cultural centre has been established as Padmashree K. K. Shastri’s all valuable medals, prizes, trophies, certificates, felicitations, gifts and books have been donated by his family members to arts college. In the memory of great scholar of Guajarat, a museum like memorial gallery has been established, which one inaugrated by chief minister shree Narendra Modi, so many ministers of the state, vice chancelors of the different universities and scholars from various fields.
