Gautam Gambhir is a leading batsman in the Indian cricket team. He was born on 14th October 1981 and he is the member of ODI since 2003 and test squad since 2004. He is an untiring run scorer and has scored two double centuries in 2002. He was able to score more than 300 runs in four test series consecutively. He attended modern school in New Delhi and later on he was selected by the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. His ODI debut was against Bangladesh in the TVS cup 2003. In its third match he was able to score 71 and got Man of the Match award that turned the attention of people towards him. He won his first century against Sri Lanka in 2005. His test debut was against Australia in 2004 and got his first century in test against Bangladesh in 2004 December. He was out of the Test team in between 2005 and 2007 but played a number of one-days during this time. 

Gautam Gambhir was selected in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20. He was able to solidify his position in the Indian test Squad in 2008. He could score very well in the Test series against England in 2008 December. His first major Test series out the country was in New Zealand in 2009. Following the test series against Sri Lanka in 2009, he was elevated to the top of the ICC rankings. He was conferred the Arjuna Award, India's second highest sporting award, in the year 2008 by the President of India. In 2009, he was the number one ranked batsman in ICC Test rankings. The same year, he was the recipient of the ICC Test Player of the Year award.
