Madhumita Bisht is a former badminton player from West Bengal, India. Madhumita Bisht was born on 5th October in the year 1964 in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. She achieved the eight times National singles champion, nine time doubles winner and a twelve time mixed doubles winner. She was awarded the Arjuna Award in the year 1982 and also received the Padma Shri in the year 2006. In the year 1977, Madhumita became the sub junior badminton champion. And also won Indian National women's singles badminton title for 8 times in her career. She also won the doubles title for 9 times, mixed doubles titles for 12 times in her long career that spanned for 3 decades. 

She won the bronze title at the Asian Games in 1982, and was also a part of the bronze medal winning team at the Asian Games in 1998. She represented India in the year 1992 at the Barcelona Olympics, and has also represented the country at the Uber Cup and World Cup competitions. At international levels she also won the Triple Crown at the Toulouse Open, and was a runner-up at the USSR open. In 1992 her world ranking was 29th and one of her massive wins came in that very year when she defeated the then world No. 2 Kusuma Sarwanta in the 2nd round of the Indonesian Open. Over the years, during her playing career, she won many a doubles national titles with various partners.
