Mamta Kharab is a prominent name in the arena of Indian hockey who presently serves as the captain of the Indian women’s hockey team. She scored a winning goal in the 2002 Commonwealth Games which helped India to bag the Gold. She also ventured into Indian cinema and played the role of Komal Chautala in the 2007 Bollywood hit titled Chak De India. Currently she also serves the Haryana police as a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Mamta Kharab has also been honoured with the prestigious Arjuna Award. Mamta Kharab was born on 26th January 1982 in a village called Givan in Rohtak district of the Indian state Haryana to a lower-middle-class family. Her parents are Kamla and Haripal Singh who reside in Rohtak. Her father is a primary teacher, posted in the village Bidhlan of the Bhiwani district. She completed her schooling from Senior Secondary School Rohtak, Haryana. Mamta Kharab has played in a number of national and international hockey matches/ championships for India. In Junior Asia Cup held in 2000, she was declared as the Best Player of the Tournament and Best Scorer of the Tournament. eing a young, versatile and dynamic hockey player, she cemented her place well in the Indian sports arena with her performances which is quite evident with her sports achievements. She won a number of gold, silver and bronze medals.
