Dr K P Haridas joined Trivandrum Medical College in 1962, passed out in 1967 followed by MS in General Surgery from Medical College, Trivandrum. DR K P HARIDAS spent 2 years (1968-'70) as tutor in pharmacology. Dr K P Haridas joined Calicut Medical College as a tutor in surgery in 1970 and continued their till June 1974 when he left for England for higher training and fellowship in General Surgery (FRCS, Glasgow). After six years of experience Dr K P Haridas returned to India and joined the Medical College services, where he continued till voluntary retirement as Professor and Head of the Department of General Surgery, Calicut Medical College. During his 43 year career Dr K P Haridas has performed thousands of advanced surgeries (eg. In 1980 – the first liver resection in Trivandrum medical college, the first in Kerala medical services to do laparoscopic surgery in Trivandrum) and since 1996 advanced laparoscopic and minimal access surgeries.
Dr. K P Haridas, an eminent and exceptional personality in the world of healthcare, has been serving the society in a variety of ways for over 4 decades. Not only is he a well-known and highly successful surgeon in India, but is also the founder of one of the most prestigious hospitals in Trivandrum, Kerala. Dr. Haridas is the recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award from Lord Swraj Paul at the British Parliament on the 10th July 2014.He received padma Shri award in 2015.
