Kalamandalam Satyabhama was an Indian classical dancer, teacher and choreographer, known for her performances and scholarship in mohiniyattam. She is regarded as a matriarch of the classical dance form. She is also well versed in other classical dances of Kerala. She was awarded the Padma Shri, in 2014, for her contributions to the art and culture, by the Government of India. She was born in 1937 at Shornur, Palakkad, Kerala, India. She became its Principal till retired in 1992. She also participated in the selection committee to decide annual Kalamandalam fellowships. She was also served as the Dean of Kerala Kalamandalam. She was the first to receive the Nrithya Natya Puraskaram award from the Kerala government in 2005. Satyabhama has published a book of 35 Mohiniyattom compositions namely, Mohiniyattam – history, techniques and performance in Malayalam.
