Randeep Guleria, is currently the Professor and Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders at AIIMS. He obtained his MD in Medicine and DM in Pulmonary Medicine from PGIMER, Chandigarh. He has acquired many awards and honors including the "Raj Nanda Pulmonary Disease Fellowship" awarded jointly by the Raj Nanda Trust and the Royal College of Physicians, UK in 1997 for training and research in the United Kingdom. He has published 268 research articles and written 36 book chapters. He is a member of the WHO Scientific Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) working group for Influenza vaccination and immunization. He is a consultant on radiation protection in medicine for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Vienna. 

He is a member of several national bodies including the WHO Epidemiology Committee which formulates guidelines for Indian management of asthma and chronic obstructive airway diseases. In addition, he is a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences and a Life Member of the Association of Physicians of India, the National College of Chest Physicians of India and the Indian Chest Society. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Chest Diseases, Lung India, Journal of American Medical Association (India) and Chest India.He received Padma Shri award in 2015 for Medical field.
