Baselios Marthoma Mathews II College of Teacher Education, at Kottarakkara founded in 1995, is named after His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, Cathelics of the east and Malankara Metropolitan. His Holiness is the Spiritual Supremo of Malankara Orthodox Church. Malankara Church founded by St. Thomas, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ, is as old as the religion itself. His Holiness is the founder manager of this prestigious College of Education.
