April fool's day which is also called as "All Fool's Day" has been celebrated by different cultured people for several centuries. It is a favorite day for the pranksters who are fond of making practical jokes on others and those involved in mischievous acts.

April fool's day originated when France changed the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.
In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII ordered this new calendar which has moved New Year's Day to Jan 1 from the end of March. In this situation, some people who refused and delayed to accept this change and celebrated New Year on April 1 where called as fools. Even before this transition, The Feast of Fools fell on 1st January in medieval France but it died in the 16th century itself.

According to the Encyclopedia of Religion and the Encyclopedia Britannica, The timing of this day of pranks seems to be related to the arrival of spring, when nature "fools" mankind with fickle weather.
The Country Diary of Garden Lore says that April fool's Day is thought to remember the fruitless mission of the rook (the European crow), who was sent out in search of land from Noah's flood-encircled ark."
Some people say it has some relation with Vernal Equinox while other people think to bind with Hilaria - the Romans' end-of-winter celebration (Roman Laughing Day) and the end of the Celtic New Year festival.
April fool's day is called by different names in various countries. The day is celebrated April Fish in France, Gowkie day in Scotland, Lie day in Brazil etc...,
