English is gaining importance day by day and without proficiency in this language it would be difficult to progress in the world of globalization and information technology. That bookish knowledge will not be sufficient was proved by the recent decision of the United States government to test people trying for visas for entry into the USA for their proficiency in spoken English. This is a clear indication that the available mass of English Knowing persons is not enough to meet the growing international and national demand and that more teachers would be require to teach English well and with efficiency. It is for such teachers that this book has been designed. It explains the various techniques of teaching English to students whose mother tongue is some other language, and for whom, for all practical purposes, English is a foreign language.
