About Institution

BSF School Jammu started as a Primary School in 1972 with 49 students on its Roll and 07 teachers on its staff. The School was re-organised as a Residential Institution, upgraded to the secondary level and got affiliated with CBSE New Delhi in June, 1976. The first batch of boarders was admitted in July, 1976. The school has been running plus Two classes with Medical / Non Medical streams since 1982. Later it added in the curriculum the Commerce and Arts streams also.


School has Primary and Secondary Wings. Primary section has its own spacious building having all facilities. The Secondary Section has a massive and magnificent building surrounded by befitting garden complex around and inside inaugurated during 1977-78. There are spacious and well-aerated classrooms. The school has a big CCA Hall, well equipped laboratories, very rich library and computer labs. School has celebrated its Silver Jubilee during the year 1997 marked by Prof. R R Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu as a Chief Guest among the gathering of representatives of all BSF Educational Institutions.

BSF Senior Secondary School, Jammu is situated in the open Battle field of J&K. It caters to the academic requirement of the wards of BSF personnel of J&K and Himachal Pradesh and some students from the different BNs located in other Eastern and Western Frontiers. There are 1519 students in Secondary Section and 916 students in Primary Section, the largest number among all other BSF Schools.

Vision

Sh K F Rustam ji, the founder Director General of BSF, the most eminent officer of the Force with whose inspiration, devotion, energy and vision the inception of these schools was possible. His mission was to establish the schools for BSF personnels who are on the borders guarding the country with nobody at home to lookafter the interests of their wards. These schools are meant to provide the children with an opportunity to get an all-round education based on an adaptation of the English Public School system on Indian tradition. In order to make a good blend of intellect and also to extend the benefit of quality education in a very protected and disciplined atmosphere to the wards of civil population, the civilians were also admitted in the school.
