About Institution

Burdwan C. M. S High School is a pride of the town. It was founded on 1834 by the name of Church Missionary Society’s English School erected through the liberal aid of Moharajah Matab Chand Bahadur and other benevolent friends by the Educationist Revd. J. Weitbrecht. The School, which is recognized by the Government of West Bengal and prepares pupils for the Secondary School Certificate Examination (Std. X) and for the Higher Secondary Certificate examination (Std. XII), is governed by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. It has its own Managing Committee. Presently it has almost 1400 students together in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary section. The institution has Good Laboratories, well furnished gymnasium hall, one rich library with reading room, and student’s hostel for H.S. coupled with other advantages..
