About Institution

Named after a renowned person, Colonel D.S. Raju, the first FRCS in the state and a freedom fighter who worked in the Central Cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru and the personal Physician of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Col. D.S.Raju Polytechnic came into existence in 1981 in the native village of the above illustrious person, Poduru village of West Godavari District with the funds acquired by the Medical Education Society (Regd.) of Kakinada through compensation following the Government’s takeover of the reputed Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada established by the above society founded by Col.D.S.Raju. Started with only two branches, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in its incipient period, the Polytechnic introduced three more branches namely Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Computer Engineering in the years 1984, 1996 and 1997 respectively. However owing to lack of admissions, Civil Engineering had to be wound up in the Polytechnic and a Second Shift is also introduced from the year 2008 and the Polytechnic is running successfully for the last 33 Years with Four Branches.
