The Indian Railways decided and took up the task and to build the Locomotive Factory in the western most part of Bengal in the year 1948. The little hamlets viz. Amladihi , Durgadihi , Kangoi , Sunderpahari were historically transformed into this Industrial township named CHITTARANJAN after Deshabandhu C.R.Das.Mihijam station was renamed Chittaranjan. On January 1950 the then presiding G.M. Mr.P.C.Mukherjee’s mother Ms Charulata Mukherjee founded the school in a tin shed comprising of eleven students’ .Thus started a long journey in the field of education. In 1996 Deshbandhu Vidyalaya Girls’(HM) got its affiliation from CBSE as a separate school functioning in the Secondary and Higher Secondary level..
