German Astronomers have compiled an image of 46 billion pixels, it is the largest astronomical image till date.

This image can be seen by an online tool which allows to view the complete ribbon of Milky way at a glance. An Input window provides the position of displayed image section which can be used to search specific objects. The astronomers used the telescope at Bochum university's observatory in the Atacama Desert in Chile to gather the complete image.
