About Institution

The Elumalai Polytechnic College owes its existence to the beneficiation and philanthropy of Thiru. E. Swamikkannu, a business magnate from Villupuram. He is a man of lofty ideals and wanted Villupuram District to be in the forefront of the technical educational area. He was instrumental in establishing a Polytechnic College at Villupuram, which has become a blessing to the people of Villupuram District. Named after his father, the Elumalai Polytechnic College with its imposing buildings stands at Salamedu located on the southern outskirts of Villupuram on the Trichy Trunk Road. It is managed by the E.S. Educational Charities for which Thiru. E. Swamikkannu is the Chairman. The Chairman's thirst to establish an exclusive Women's College in Villupuram, was quenched when the E.S. Educational Charities started Theivanai Ammal College for Women in the neighboring campus. The Elumalai Polytechnic College was started in the year 1983 with an initial intake of 240 students per year. It was started with four disciplines which were Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering., Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Now it has grown into six disciplines with the addition of Civil Engineering and Automobile Technology.

Our vision is to impart high quality technical education along with professional ethics and values through talented, dedicated, qualified and committed teachers. Thus we can achieve the dual goal of developing students and society in a holistic fashion. We also desire to continuously improve our standards and qualify as an autonomous institution and a residential polytechnic.

Elumalai Polytechnic College, Villupuram will endeavour to provide quality engineering education to enhance the personal skills and technical talents of the students by a continuous improvement in the educational process to meet the changing needs of the industries, community and society as a whole.The institution seeks to accomplish the mission by uplifting the rural students in and around Villupuram District with committed leadership, professional enrichment and Hi-tech infrastructure.
