Guru Dutt- Vedic Public School Kangra was inaugurated on 25th April 1987. It has adopted Central School Pattern. It has been observed that Kangra District is lacking is educational facilities on all India- Pattern. A Couple of Central Schools are functioning Mainly in Cantonment areas, which can hardly accommodate wards of defense personnel and other categories of central Govt. employees. Therefore the vast population of school going children is left out. It is with this aim in view that G.A.V public School Kangra was started to provide educational facilities to as many children as possible with rural background who otherwise have no access it this elite concept of education . it is primarily a Day Scholar institution in its present from However, in the days to come boarding facilities may be added to help out those students who cannot come daily due to distance problem and children of transferable, Govt employees r B.A. B.Ed. to save them from dislocation. Presently the school has classes from Nursery to K.G and from ist to 12th ( Plus two Classes are in Science stream only). The school has been divided in to four Houses and Houses are further Sub Divided in to different clubs for the convenience of administration with regard to organizing co- Curricular and extra- Curricular activities and groom a spirit of Healthy Competition in the children. These House are Venus, Jupiter Mercury and Saturn.
