About Institution

A hundred years for an institution is not a small achievement. Govt.Ayurveda medical college and Hospital - our proud organization has achieved this feat.
With history of 100 years, naturally it has many ups and downs, moments of joys and pains. Started with a small hospital, it has developed into a big institution now.
BAMS Graduate course & MD [Ay] in two subjects [in addition to five more soon] are offered. It is a prominent centre of Ayurvedic education, with experienced & many enthusiastic faculty & supporting staff, the college has a vision of model college. In fact Govt of India has announced this already! The intake for BAMS is 50 & for PG it is 7 in Kayachikitsa & 5 Ayurveda siddantha.
A beautiful Herb garden with about 300 species is a sight for everybody. Hostels for boys & girls are made available.
Hospital with 175 beds housed in a structure which is announced as heritage building. Apart from Ayurveda all other Ayush health care is provided, maned by experienced doctors & supporting staff. Special Panchakarma therapies are extremely useful & equally popular. The treatment is supported by a very useful & highly acclaimed research which is being carried out in the PG departments.
New schemes are envisaged for further development of the institution, such as a new Rs.11 Crore Panchakarma hospital [funds awaited], Rs 1.5 crore PG block [Govt of India funds already received], Expansion of college building & women's hostel [work is about to start], new PG courses etc.
The centenary celebration will start on Nov 28 & continue for two more days with a National conference on Geriatrics - The Chirayu 2008.
Our motto is to learn Ayurveda, teach Ayurveda & serve through Ayurveda.

We would like to be a centre of excellence in Ayurveda education, research and health services. We would like to build a beautiful campus with full fledged infrastructure and faculties and hospital with excellent service and modernized facilities. This could be a centre for research which will help to validate Ayurvedic concepts, drugs and therapies. This will also become an exchange centre which will carry the spirit of Ayurveda around the world.
This is not merely a dream that could be a reality if we, individually and collectively strive our best with enthusiasm, zeal and positive thinking in our hearts. Our mission is to create an atmosphere conducive to offer best of the education, undertake best of the research and render best of the health service through Ayurveda and for Ayurveda.
