The Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Chandigarh is a well known Institute in this part of Northern India where training of great professional value is being imparted to the women trainees and the trainees are absorbed in various fields with sound salary/high perks, even much before the completion of their training at this Institute. It is situated in the lush green and beautiful surroundings of the premier educational area of Sector 11-C of the City Beautiful. It has spacious buildings with well equipped most modern infrastructure required for a state-of-the-art training in a number of trades and courses being run under the Craftsmen Training Scheme of Govt. of India, Ministry of Labour and Employment, DGE&T, New Delhi.

It is heartening to note that Director General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India has selected this Institute as CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE under IT/BPO Sectors to ensure Job Placements of the passed-outs in various Companies/Industry/Organisations of repute. Under this Scheme, ten advanced computer courses in the latest and modern technology have been started under Public-Private Partnership Mode and an Institute Management Committee has been constitutedincluding therein five members from Industry side and five members from Govt. side. One student member has also been associated with this Committee. The new courses have been duly recommended by the Industry Members keeping in view the latest and modern trends emerging in IT Sector all over the world and the demand of the Industry for placement of the passed out students.Eight new courses are being added from the next session bringing the total of courses to 18 numbers under this scheme.

Besides these courses, the Govt. of India has introduced some new demand driven short term training courses based on Modular Employable Skills decided in consultation with Industry under Skill Development Initiative Scheme. Under this Scheme, four short-term part-time courses are being run successfully. On completion of the MES courses, Certificates from the National Council for Vocational Training, Govt. of India, New Delhi are awarded to the successful candidates.

The Institute is affiliated to the Director General of Employment and Training, New Delhi and is functioning under the overall supervision of the Secretary Technical Education, Chandigarh Administration.
