Government Vidarbha Institute of Science and Humanities was established in 1923 and it opened the door to education for the people of Vidarbha. Since then it has been a premier education hub. The magnificent structure in gothic architectural beauty on the vast campus of 167 acres was completed and inaugurated on July 14th ,1923 at the hands of Sir-Franklin Sly. It was Christened “King Edward Memorial College” An Emblem of Cultural heritage in the Vidarbha, the institution even after 92 years of fruitful existence, looks forward to attend greater academic excellence. Today the institution functions with more than 150 teaching faculties and 22 graduates, 16 post graduates with research facility in 29 subjects. The institution has very rich library with more than 2 lakh books. The institution has symbolic existence of an ancient ‘Gurukul’ with all the amenities like two hostels for boys and two hostels for girls, post office , Gymkhana and auditorium which can accommodate more than one thousand people.
