About Institution

Enhancement of Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), provision of wide accessibility and quality education has become the challenge for the Higher Education Institutions throughout India. With the 11 % GER in the year 2007, The Higher Education Department envisaged expansion and opening of more colleges in Jammu &Kashmir, and it was under this plan that Government Degree College Uttersoo was established with its first academic session 2008-2009. The College is presently housed in the Higher Secondary School, Uttersoo. The construction work on the New College Campus is going on in full swing and hopefully the college would shift to its new Campus soon.
Presently the college offers Bachelors Degree in Arts only. The college stands affiliated to the University of Kashmir and is recognized by University Grants Commission, New Delhi under section 12f and 12B of the UGC Act of 1956. Right from its beginning, the College has grown a great deal in all aspects.
