About Institution

A new Technical Institute, Hemnalini Memorial College of Engineering, under Bhattacharya Engineering Education and Research Trust has been constructed in Balindi near Kalyani, a municipal town in Nadia, WB. The site is under the newly formed Haringhata municipality.

The site is already a part of education and research destination with Kalyani University, Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER), National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, Bidhan Chandra Agricultural University (BCKV), Haringhata Dairy Farm, as well as the new campus of West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). The Govt. of West Bengal has just (Nov 29, 2013) offered 70-acre land to Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) in this educational hub to compete for the Rs. 6000-cr synchrotron center project.

Our college site is on Kalyani Road near “Kalyani More” on NH 34 and about 9 km from Kalyani main railway station with adequate public transportation from Kalyani and Kolkata as well as north of the district. Across from the site is the Eastern Headquarters of Border Security Force (BSF) and another institution (Dolphin college under WBUT).

The 10-acre contiguous land was leased to Bhattacharya Engineering Education and Research Trust by Govt. of West Bengal (BLRO of Haringhata) for 99 years. The site is under Kolkata Metropolitan City (KMC). The construction was started in 2011 and about 65,000 sq. ft. of the building has been completed as of November 30, 2013, fulfilling the requirement of AICTE to start a new engineering college.

Vision

As an engineering institute, we will contribute to the further development of the State of West Bengal in pollution control and make our water and air safe for our children and grandchildren while sustaining our infrastructure growth. We will continue to promote women participation in core engineering courses by providing scholarships. Our vision is also to work closely with the community for environmental education. We want to successfully motivate the faculty, non-teaching staff and the students to volunteer for free, regular adult education programs with emphasis on public health. It appears from the WB Govt. website that the Dist. of Nadia require more active adult education facilities when compared with other states in West Bengal.

Our mission is to promote teaching and research in Environmental Science and Engineering through collaborative efforts with other established institutes and by promoting entrepreneurship in environmental problem solving
