About Institution

Jorhat Institute of Science & Technology is a premier institute in North-Eastern India offering three years bachelor degree in science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Information Technology) along with two B.E Courses in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering , Power Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering. Formerly the Institute was known as Science College , Jorhat established by Govt. of Assam in the year 1971 and has recently completed its glorious 42 years. In the year 2008 Govt. of Assam, upgraded the college and renamed it as Jorhat Institute of Science & Technology registered under Societies Registration Act. Till then the college was offering U.G. courses only in science subjects. From the academic session 2009-10 the above mentioned Technical Courses were introduced in addition to the existing B.Sc. courses after getting the approval from AICTE with an intake capacity of 60 for each course. The institute is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Assam.
