Our Kendriya Vidyalaya Cooch Behar was established in October 1982 in Chilarai Army Barrack in Cooch Behar Town. At first the school started functioning from Classes I-V with ten staff members including the Principal.
The new building was constructed in the outskirts of the town in Neelkuthi, Baburhat amidst lush green meadows and villages with a small rocky river flowing beside it. The school shifted into its new spacious double-storied building on 4th July 1994. At present the school runs from Classes I-XII with Science and Humanities stream in senior secondary section .
