About Institution

Maharashtra Girls' Education society was established on 2nd october 1884. It was indeed a milestone in girl's education. Following the direction given by the social reformist Mahatma Jotirao Phule and his revolutionary wife Savitribai, M. G. E. Society took the lead and established Huzurpaga, the second school for girls in maharashtra.
With the concerted efforts of Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade, Dr. Ramakrishna Gopal Bhandarkar, Shree Shankar Pandurang Pandit, Dr. Vishram Ramaji Ghole and Shree Vaman Aabaji Modak, the M. G. E. Society was established. Their vision was to introduce modern education to Indian girls which will enrich and empower their lives. Therefore, Huzurpaga school was established with the aim of imparting education to girls and simultaneously it sought to encourage culture and discipline among its girl students. Since the past 129 years the society has come a long way and its journey has been most fulfilling and meaningful.
From its very establishment, this 'sacred pillar of light' (deepmal) is shining in the field of education in Pune. During its inception year a secondary school was established at a time when in India only primary level schools were functioning for girls.

Vision

In a span of three years, we endeavour to groom our students to develop an all-round personality so that they can face challenges with vigor & vitality. All out efforts are made to prepare our girls to work confidently in a dynamic corporate world, further inculcating in them a professional approach and an attitude to handle any situation at hand. We aspire to eventually transfer them as leaders of tomorrow .
So, with the vision of 'global education with Indian culture' the founders started a Senior College, Huzurpaga Mahila Vanijya Mahavidyalaya in September 2001. The idea for starting this college was to educate women and equip them to face challenges in the coming future. Thousands of women have secured higher education from our institution.
