About Institution

Mata Harki Devi Memorial Institutions at village Odhan are catering to the educational needs of the rural area from nursery to post graduation. To meet the need for competent and quality teachers, our worthy chairman S. Hardayal Singh, who is always striving to promote education for women, especially in the remote rural areas of the state, decided to establish a ‘Teacher Education College’ with its identification as Mata Harki Devi College of Education for Women – Odhan. The college came into existence in 2006 with the initial intake of 100 students under the Presidentship of Ch. Bharat Singh. In 2007-08 the intake was increased to 200. The college is affiliated to Choudhary Devi Lal University.

The teething troubles of the institution were to overcome by the honourable president, who with his pragmatism, administrative acumen and exceptional enthusiasm led the institution from the front. He is assisted by vice-president, Sh. Girdhari Lal Bissu, and other eminent members of the committee.

The vision and rich experience of these personalities has helped them formulate a number of policies for the satisfaction of students, employees and for the development of the institution. A major contribution in this direction has been naturally that of the Principal and Staff. The college has made remarkable progress under the laudable leadership of Mrs. Sunita Rani whose motivation has helped the college scale exceptional heights.

The College is a well-planned structure with ultra-modern facilities in an area of 6 acres. The administrative block comprises of the Principal’s office, Staff room, the Superintendent’s Office and well furnished classrooms equipped with OHP. Besides, a well equipped multimedia lab, a computer lab with Broadband Internet Facility, Multipurpose hall, the college has well equipped laboratories of Science, Mathematics, Music, Guidance and Counselling, Psychology, Social Science, Fine Arts and Languages. The college has a well stocked library, computerized with open access system. The college has a triple storied hostel complex, Staff quarters, a college canteen, a guest room.

The college is undergoing the process of assessment and accreditation with a view to having an honest introspection to know its strengths and weaknesses and to explore opportunities for growth through an informal review process by peer groups.

To prepare ideal teachers and to fathom the ocean of knowledge and remove the clouds of ignorance to enlighten the consciousness and create awareness among the youth to introspect. Along with imparting excellence in academics, we aim to articulate the ancient Vedic wisdom in the modern contact by promoting ethical values, discipline and unity among the prospective teachers.
