Bharath Lal Meena, Principal Secretary, Department of Higher
Education said that Government plans to make higher education accessible for
every one so that the quality of life improves. Speaking after inaugurating a
workshop on ‘Accelerating gross enrolment ratio in education-issues and
challenges’ at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mr. Meena announced
that the government had drafted a plan aimed at enrolling people of employable
age group for higher education.
So, as the first step towards achieving that goal, the State
government will keep track of all students from primary to PU level, he said
adding that the SSLC Board and PU Board have been asked to keep track of all
students to ensure that no student discontinues studies.
Providing higher education to all is a formidable task, the
government would need the support of all academic institutions, academics and
educationists to provide higher education to all youth through open universities
such as the KSOU, Mr. Bharat Lal Meena said. He also said that we have to work
in the mission mode to achieve our goal, adding after the gram panchayat polls
government would enrol rural youth for higher education.
