The proper implementationof the Right to Education Act (2009), which provides for education of allchildren between the ages of 6 years and 14 years without having to appear forexams till the 8th class, chief minister Dr Raman Singh on Sunday said with thelaunch of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Quality Education Mission, there is a scope forbetter and higher standards of education.
Responding to a suggestion for an overhaul in the school education examinationsystem during his third series of radio broadcast to the people of the state inhis program Raman ki goth, the chief minister assured that the future of thechildren of the state is safe and they have a bright career both inChhattisgarh and national-level ahead.
Expressing deep concern over the recent accident which claimed lives of 5children of Government Middle School of Village Rajkatti while being taken onan excursion tour in Gariyaband district on tractors, Dr Singh said rules wereobviously not followed and the lives of all the 73 children was put at risk bychoosing tractor-trollies as the mode for their transportation. He warnedteachers and school authorities and advised them to exercise more caution inthe future.
Expressingsympathies with the families of the deceased children, the chief minister saidthe government has taken stern action against those responsible for the tragicdeaths and a police complaint has been filed.
