Two thirds of faculty members are thinking to leave their passionate profession by next 2 years because of high stress in workload and lowering morality.

According to the survey, carried about by YouGov and the National Union of Teachers(NUT), two thirds believe that morale has declined in the past five years, Meanwhile 1 of 10 teachers believes improvement. It follows previous analysis of Government figures by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), which revealed that almost four in 10 teachers quit the profession within a year of qualifying.

General Secretary of the NUT said it is must needed for the Government to address the crisis in the schools system where teachers were leaving in droves and approximately 1 million pupils are coming to system within a decade and class strength grows high. Today’s figures come despite denials by the Government that there is a crisis in teacher recruitment.

But while the vast majority of teachers stay in their roles for more than five years, we know unnecessary workload can distract from teaching. Research carried out last year by the NUT found that many teachers were reportedly working up to 60 hours a week.

Last week, Nicky Morgan, the Education Secretary, announced the areas that cause the biggest workload issues for teachers; including marking, planning and data management.

We are seeing multiple crises in education, which are bringing the system to breaking point. The Government needs to act urgently to stop talented and good teachers are droving from the system.
