Education ministers of BRICS countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa will come together in New Delhi on September 30 to brainstorm on ways to cooperate in the fields of learning and pedagogy.
India is going to host in Delhi, a meeting of BRICS education ministers on September 30. The education ministers, senior officials of all the five countries will participate. The main issue is where these countries can cooperate in the field of education, Union Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar said.
During the meeting, he said the areas which would figure include encouraging cooperation and interactions among students, faculty and sharing of best practices.
A Delhi Declaration will also be made on September 30, Mr Javadekar said.
The HRD minister said the crucial issue of large number of vacancies in Indian universities would be taken up during his meeting with the vice chancellors of the central universities next month.
Encouraging varsities to raise more resources from activities like consultancy are among the topics that will be discussed during the meeting to be held at Banaras Hindu University on October 6, he said.
The HRD minister said he would go to Mohali on Friday for a meeting with the heads of six Indian Institutes of Science, Education and Research (IISERs) where various issues related to these central institutes of higher education would be discussed.
Mr Javadekar said his meeting with VCs and IISER heads follow his previous interactions with the top brass of IITs and IIMs.
To queries on the issue of reservations in IIMs, HRD ministry officials said the constitutional provisions are supreme.
