Six students from India won prestigious awards at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
Students from different parts of the world took part in the Intel fair 2016 organised at Arizona recently in US. The Intel fair is popular as the largest international pre-college science competition in the world.
Students, who bagged the prizes were from 9 and 12 grades. They had also earned several credits at local, regional, state or national science fair.
Indian team of 16 students won a total of $9,500 in three grand awards and other three special awards in the fields of biotechnology, medicine, bio-medical engineering and mathematics.
The 16 Indian students were shortlisted as finalists of the Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science (IRIS) 2016. Over 1,700 young scientists participated in the event; they were selected from 419 affiliate fairs in 77 countries.
Each winner's school and the affiliated fair were awarded $1,000 grant by the Intel Foundation.
