The University of Hyderabad (UoH) was the first university to be recognised globally as one of the best universities in South India and in Telangana.

The University of Hyderabad, which is considered as one of the premier universities in India, was recently featured in the the list of 'Top Global Universities' in India, as reported in the US News and World Report 2017 edition.

According to US News and World Report, Punjab university and Indian Institute of Science Bangalore are the two best institutes in India.

There are around 1, 262 institutes mentioned in the list of 'Best Global Universities' across 65 countries.

The University of Hyderabad (UoH) was the first university to be recognised globally as one of the best universities in South India and in Telangana

The varsity was ranked sixth among the full-fledged universities

It was ranked 14th among the 'Best Global Universities' in India

The US News and World Report pointed out that students who wish to study in India can enroll themselves in these top ranked universities

Including UoH, there eight universities which are centrally funded and were able to make it to the list

The ranking was based on research performance and rated by the members of academic fraternity across Asia and the world, as reported in the Deccan Chronicle.

The University of Hyderabad was founded in 1974. It is a public research university. Over the last few years, the university has been regarded as a premier university across the country. The varsity was awarded with the Visitor's Award as the best central university in 2015.  

For its advances in research, the varsity has been ranked among the top ten universities in India by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), National Institute Ranking Framework ( NIRF) , and other bodies.
