The Polytechnic is a part of the Padmabhushan Sri N. Ramaswami Ayyar educational complex. The founder of the complex, Sri N. Ramaswami Ayyar had the desire to establish an institution for providing technical education for girls. The founder's desire was fulfilled when the polytechnic was started in the year 1981 by Sri. R. Panchapakesan, founder's son who currently serves as the Managing Trustee of the educational complex.The polytechnic offers 4 three-year diploma courses. It has a strength of 46 faculty members and non-teaching staff. Its facilities, which include well-equipped laboratories, workshops, a computer center, instructional resource center and a library are housed in two multistoried buildings and are worth about rupees 3 crores.
