About Institution

Nestled in the lap of mountains and a man-made water irrigation project “YAMUNA BANDHA” with an urban touch in the tiny spot of Tigiria Gadjat. Prasanna Purusottam Dev Mohavidyalaya, At/Po-Tigiria, Dist-Cuttack has walked a long way to reach its destination a meaningful life through rightful education. The History of the College truly reflects the history of a progressive rural area – the socio economic and cultural life of the location, Tigiria, delivers its own voice. The college owes its origin to some philanthropists, political think tanks and some who are breathing in the great heaven. The calendar year 1981, being the status tear began with an uproar to steadfast the spread of general education in the name of Prasannamani, a synonym of Lord Jagannath with His direct supervision. Then came a group with Sj. Subash Chandra Mohanty, Hon’ble Member, Rajya Sabha, Sj. Ravi Mishra, Sj. Gatikrushna Swain and likeminded people with their vision and laid the inner foundation to restrict the migration of local aspirants of higher education.
Time rolled on. The college started making a headway from its infancy by the concerted effort and cooperation of some enthusiastic and magnanimous sons of the soil. The founder Sj. Mohanty with some big hands planned, begged and finally materialized the hope of inculcating education on subject in humanities. News of opening an institution spread like wildfire to the periphery. Initially the college started functioning in B.B.M.E. school. Sj. Atasi Kumar Ray an educationist and academician did a big job as the first Principal. Sri Girish Chandra Tunga the first Head clerk rendered his valuable participation in the administrative arena of the college. To fulfill the cherished hope and dream of the people for higher education. Under graduate classes started in 1989 with another milestone. Then came subjects in Science and later degree courses brought colours to it. Undergraduate Honours classes demended more flavor.
Affiliation of Utkal University and CHSE, Odisha stamped another landmark and the patronage of the 12B & 2F of University Grants Commission during Sj. S. K. Bhanja another star Principal who brought an another shining to the college. Basing on “ LET NOBLE THOUGHTS COME FROM EVERYSIDE”, Prasanna Purusottam Dev Mohavidyalaya, tigiria filtered every odd to its administrative as well as academic control. Principals of different Cadres (I/C and Deputed) had their respective psychometrics to the atmosphere. Further some unfulfilled items like N.C.C.(Army), Administrative block and some buildings with electronic equipment symbolized its progress to run the age old 29 years institution in a different track. The experience faculty members and the office mechanism are no doubt in a healthy, homely and disciplined fragrance under the big head of Prof. Kailash Chandra Tripathy, Principal with a gigantic and gemmed heart.

To instil the sense of humanity in it’s students, to make them morally upgraded, the college strives to equip itself with all-desired faculty members and required blue prints of time bound necessity. It aims at developing the spirit of inquiry for creativity and innovativeness among the students at par with the requirements of the diverse world. The mission of duo turn a child into a man, set a man as an asset for the mankind, is to be seriously and sincerely materialised with an approach of pragmatism.

It will be responsive to societal needs, dedicated to excellence and committed to global educational perspective. In course of time it will magnatise the education of Science and Humanity for the benefits of ruralities. The gray area relating to unemployment will be addressed by functioning the college’s plans of Learning & Earning. Self-financing courses will be emphasized keeping a strong nexus with Industrial - Banking - Managerial - IT sectors. It dares to dream big and committed to translate everything into reality. It’s rural character may challenge our dream. To achieve success is difficult but not impossible -- is the attitude of the Institution to reach at the apex of glory and greatness.
