About Institution

The long Standing demand of the public of the Bilagi taluk to have a Govt First Grade College was full filled in the year 1991 by the commendable efforts. That time local Bilagi. Was neither city nor village with approximate population of less than 15000.To satisfy the needs of rural people of this backward region & to provide education of all sections of society irrespective of the rich, Poor & irrespective of Community & religion. There on wards the college is being called as Rudragouda Patil Govt First Grade College Bilagi.
Thanks to the government of Karnataka for taking steps to establish first Government First Grade College in North Karnataka to the needs of Higher Education in 1991. Now number of Government First Grade Colleges are established to the needs of higher education. At present the percentage of students coming under higher education fold is as low as 12%. The department of Human resources is contemplating to hike the percentage to 25%. In order to support this idea the Govt. of Karnataka and the ministry of Higher education (collegiate education Department ) have rightly taken the steps to open government degree Colleges in all Districts co-education & separate Womens Colleges and Taluk Head quarters and also in rural areas where there was an urgent need to provide higher education.
Ours is one of the oldest government first grade college in North Karnataka is established in the academic year 1991-92.This college completing 24 years successfully. In the beginning the college was started in private college building then shifted to its own independent building in the year 1997 in the beginning Government permit to start 2 UG Programs with Co-education that is BA, & B.Com then college was affiliated to Karnataka University Dharwad the college was started with strength. The college took of one principal & ministerial staff the student strength new reached to 680 in the academic year 2014-15 & the working strength of Teaching & Non teaching that are on permanent 09 & 04 respectively.
Library which is the heart of the college has worthy collection of rare books the total number of books in library at present is 22521. NSS Unit has been started since 1997-98 with strength of 50 volunteers and now it is increased to 100 NSS volunteers and special camps are conducting every year in selected village unit helps in creating awareness of social harmony and integrity among the villagers.
The Scouts & Guides, Youth Red cross, Heritage Club, & Red Ribbon club are active in our institution for making student to know the problems, evils and culture of society.
The college development committee has also established headed by the President and also members from educationalist Business man industrialist, lady member, member belonging to back word community & also SC/ST members & student representative in the committee.
The Government dreams to total quality management in higher education due to LPG. Which world is becoming a Global village; it is a era of Survival of the fittest so the students of our college should not lag behind in the global race from achieving this. Our college has been providing total quality education to the students of this rural back ward area. Our college is one of the best college under the Rani Channamma University Belagavi. The Sincere efforts of the dedicated staff are highly commendable.
