“Shikshanmaharshi Bapuji Salunkhe Mahavidyalaya, Karad is established in June – 1984. Our college is named after the founder of our Mother Institution late Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe (A Renowned Educationist, visionary, Freedom Fighter in Maharashtra). In the public glare he is known as Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe.

This college is located at Karad on the bank of river Koyana. There is a holy world/famous confluence of Rivers Koyana and Krishna near our college. In the vicinity, ours is the only college of co-education.

There are two streams: Arts and Commerce. Though our College is located in Karad town, students from all corners of society are availing the opportunity of education. 85 to 90 % of our students are from the rural area surrounding Karad. Most of them are from poor and down trodden class of the society.

Thus, the courses are so adopted that they should be affordable to the students and they can generate employment opportunities for them. In addition to above mentioned two streams, we are running Bachelor of Journalism & Communication Science and Rural Journalism course in our College on self-funding basis.
