Salem Sowdeswari College was founded on1975 by the Kannada Speaking Devanga Linguistic Minority community under themanagement of Sri Sowdeswari Mahajana Charitable Trust is the Educational Agencyof our college.Members from the Devanga Community have granted generousendowments over the years, helping to construct buildings and by providingancillary infrastructure. Sri Sowdeswari Mahajana Charitable Trustwas founded by the Kannada Speaking Devanga community of Tamil Nadu. SSC was declared open on14.07.1975 by the Founder Chairman Amarar Thiru. T.N.K. Govindaraju Chettiar,an eminent Philanthropist-Industrialist from Madras and by the Vice Chairman, Secretaryand Managing Trustee, Thiru. J.K.K.Angappa Chettiar, another eminentPhilanthropist-Industrialist from Komarapalayam. Salem Sowdeswari College for arts and science is committed to provide a conductive academic environment for creating competent, self reliant and socially responsible professionals to meet the emerging needs of the industry and society by continually improving the teaching standards and infrastructure.
