“Well begun is half done”. The great Sivagiri Vidyaniketan began in 1973 as “ Sadanam Nursery School”. It was Vaidyan K.G.K. Panicker , founder of Kerala Ayurveda Pharmacy Ltd who lit the lamp and declared open the Sadanam Nursery School.He and the school were assisted by dedicated souls and let us record their name for posterity.

They are Dr. P.R Sasthri, Sri. T.K Sivasankaran, Smt. Sree kalyani Panicker, Smt.K.C Narayani, Smt. Saudamini Krishnan Vaidyer , Smt. Vasanthi Kanakambaran, Sri. C.V Vijayan and V.D Rajan. Along with these bright names some more are to be added for posterity because they also have rocked this cradle . They are the blessed teachers like Mrs. Sudha Gopal , Mrs. Valsa Rajan, Mrs. Sarojini Nandagopan and Mrs.Neetha Viswakumar.

This stretch of geography has a special name, it is ’Valmikikunnu’.The Hill of Valmiki and this name was given to it by Gurudevan. There was a man called Velu who had lived outside the Law..His mind was touched transformed, elevated by the eternal flame, that moves us all by our Gurudevan. Velu gifted to Gurudevan rhymed on the name of the donor and also underlined the transformation of his mind; he declared as this day this will shall be known after Velu, who has become a Valmiki and thus Sivagiri Vidyaniketan is honoued ina Sacred spot a symbol of love and our hope and the eternal be presence of Gurudevan.

The school which was started as Sadanam Nursery School later came under SN charities and sfterwards under the wings of Sivagiri Madhom, that is in 1987 and from thereon the progress has been both rapid and determined. It was Mr. V.D Rajan who helped to link the school to Sivagiri and we remain undebted to his foresight and effort without which we would not have been where we are today.
