St. Peter’s College, Kolenchery

About Institution

The College is named after St. Peter, the apostle of peace and harmony. The College derives its inspiration from St. Peter’s & St. Paul’s Orthodox Syrian Church, Kolenchery. It was in the meeting held on 9th February 1964 at this church the idea of applying for a Junior College in Kolenchery was mooted. A committee consisting of Sri.C.P.Issac (Chairman) Sri.C.P.Issac (Chairman), Sri. P.M. Paily Pillai (Secretary) and Sri. C. V. Jacob (Treasurer) was authorised to proceed with the dream project. Sanction for a Junior College came through the letter. The College is named after St. Peter, the apostle of peace and harmony. St. Peter’s College is located approximately 30 kilometers east of Kochi Kolenchery was once a remote village with educationally backward inhabitants. The starting of the college was a boon to the rustic inhabitants of the locality. Besides producing thousands of graduates and postgraduates, uplifting the educationally backward people, the college has been the cause of ushering a new look to Kolenchery with many business establishments, banks, government offices and even a Medical College, and made it a beautiful township.
