About Institution

St. Magdalene of Canossa was a woman with a vision and a mission. She is the Foundress of Sons and Daughters of Charity. Magdalene's noble work started in 1808; this marks the beginning of the Canossian family. Though she initiated her mission in Italy, her heart was sensitive to the needs of the whole world. It was in 1892 that the Canossian sisters reached the heart of Alappuzha, then the flourishing commercial centre. St. Joseph's English L.P.S took its shape in 1901and in 1919, it was raised to U.P.S. In 1920 it bloomed in to a H.S then in 1998 to its glory as H.S.S. There is a total of 3000 students and 92 staff members. We are proud of our 119 years of history and academic tradition as it stands as the oldest Girl's school in the whole of Alappuzha district. Under her tutelage the students have excelled in many fields. We are unique in the way we have kept abreast with the new trends of education and to the changing needs of children.
