This is the first college of Education in HP accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) the appex body of UGC India for the Quality and Excellence in Higher Education.

S.V.N. College of Education, Tarkwari came into existence by the efforts of S.V.N. Educational Society (Hamirpur) and the courtesy of H.P. Government, H.P. University and NCTE Jaipur. The college started functioning from Oct. 3rd 2000.

S.V.N. College of Education, Tarkwari is located at a distance of about 25 km from Hamirpur. It is about 12 km from Jahu on Hamirpur road and 20 km from Sarkaghat. It can be reached from most of the places by first coming to Bhota, Hamirpur or Jahu as is suitable to an individual. From these places there are buses for Tarkwari after every 15 or 20 minutes. There is regular bus service to the place from all important stations like Mandi, Shimla, Una and Hamirpur.
