Thiru Kolanjiappar Government Arts College started functioning in the name of Lord Kolanjiappar from the year of 1966. Since then the college caters the educational needs of the socially and economically backward students community in the 40 kms radious of Vriddhachalam taluk. This is the only Government college in this area offering totally free of cost education to the downtrodden as per the Government of Tamilnadu norms. This college is located in a 42 acre sprawling beautiful campus in the riverbank of Manimutha. This college is accorded a permanent recognised status under sec 2(f) and 12(b) by the U.G.C. in the year 1971. The college is affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University, Vellore and offering 10 under graduate courses and 7 post graduate courses as well as research programmes in Tamil literature.
